Tiny = Big Fun

I'm borrowing my daughter's itty, bitty Fairyland Pukipuki Darjeeling for fittings while I come up with a doll clothing line for my future Etsy shop. The "credit card" beside her is for size reference. She's not quite 4.5 inches tall.

I'm sure having a lot of fun with her. Although it can take a bit of time, it doesn't take much fabric or yarn to make an outfit for a doll this size. An 8" x 2" scrap of fabric was more than enough for the skirt portion of this dress. The hard part is finding prints in a small enough scale.

Marina, I think this was one of the scraps you sent.

Not Finished?

Peanut! What are you doing outside with my yarn? It's far too cold for you to be out without a coat.

Yes, I know it's going to be a coat dear, but it's not finished yet.
No. Those are knitting needles, not "fancy, attached ski poles".

Yes I know the snow is melting and won't last much longer, but you have to come back in and let me finish your coat.

*sigh*

Needle Doodling

I played around making doll dresses yesterday and had borrowed dolls model them. While putting these St. Patrick's Day outfits together I had a great deal of fun doing what I call "needle doodling". I know this type of thing is usually called "embellishment", but the way I approached this, just fiddling around without any specific plan or intended outcome, certainly felt like doodling, only with a needle and thread, beads and ribbons.

I'm very happy with the results. I'll eventually put them up for sale on Etsy.com, when I get my online shop up and running. I'm gradually working towards that goal.

Peanut's This Time

Another little knitted tunic is finished.

This one was claimed by Peanut.

Both are from the same colourway of Mini Mochi. It's #108, Neptune Rainbow. They were just started at different places in the colour run.

Free Doll Tunic Pattern

Using a general description of the top down process as a start, I spent some time this week compiling a free pattern to share with other knitters.

My first attempt was stalled one sleeve short of completion when the ball of yarn I was using would not cough up another matching colour section for the second sleeve.

The local yarn store I bought it from was completely out of this colourway of Mini Mochi yarn, so I resorted to public begging . . . . . well, not really, I simply asked on Ravelry's "sell or trade" stash page and a kind hearted Ravelry member has been good enough to send the needed yarn. When it arrives I'll be able to finish version #1.

I learned enough doing that one to make a few pattern revisions while I knit the second one in a different colourway. I'm really happy with the way it turned out and I have a third one nearly finished.

Napkinwear

When you're really tiny. . . . . .

. . . . . . a paper napkin makes an excellent "fitting muslin" for a new pattern.

Doing my usual morning ramble through subscribed forums, I stumbled across this thread on DOA (Den of Angels....you'll need to be a member for access), and though the little pattern is for Fairyland RealPuki and Pukipuki sized dolls, the photo/pattern printed out larger than scale when I "shrunk to fit" on my printer. I did eventually correct that, but as is, (4" equalling 5 1/8") it fits my fostered ResinSoul Yu, Pip with only a minor adjustment to the length.

Now back to what I was planning on doing this morning . . . . which was knitting.

Sweeter Than Candy

Happy Valentine's Day,
from Peanut, Pumpkin, and of course me, Wovenflame.

The girls are wearing hand knitted dresses designed and knit by me for this special day.

The dresses began with a ruffle from the Mrs. Beeton Cuffs by Brenda Dayne and were further inspired by romantic Romeo and Juliet fashions.

Happy Valentine's Day!

PeptoBismal Socks

I named these the PeptoBismal Socks for what I think is an obvious reason. My daughter gave me the yarn when she was doing a destashing.

I'm guessing maybe bright PeptoBismal Pink isn't one of her favourite colours.

I don't mind a blinding shot of pink in my day once in a while. I find it cheerful on a grey and rainy day. . . . . . and we get plenty of those around here!

The yarn is Tanis Fiber Arts Hand Dyed Yarn and the colour is E=MC2. Pattern is my usual plain, 2 at a time, toe-up, on one long circular.

Too Much Temptation?

Oh dear! Maybe I shouldn't have expected Peanut and Pumpkin to sit quietly while temptation was so close by?

February T-shirts

I made each of the LittleFee girls a Valentine themed t-shirt.

Of course Pumpkin chose to wear hers with worn out blue jeans and high tops while Peanut favoured a more feminine approach.

Pumpkin's Home!

As I mentioned before, Peanut spent much of the day waiting for her buddy, Pumpkin to arrive home, all the way from Korea.

72

In the late afternoon the postal truck finally arrived with The Box! Peanut was so overjoyed that she clung to the box while I ran to get a box opener.

92

"Hurry, hurry, cut her out of there!"

98

"Wow, they buried her in paper!"

00

"I'm coming Pumpkin!"

02

"Oh, oh, her face guard slipped! I hope she's okay."

05

A closer look.

07

"Need help?"

09

"Let me give you a hand."

13

"I can help with that too."

16

"Um.....that's......rather wild.....hair."

18

Pumpkin's first words.... "Oh, whatever! It's fine."

24

"We kind of match."

26

"Cool!

29

"So, how was your trip?"

43

"It was great.....except for that weekend layover at Canada Customs."

49

"I'd like to change into something more comfortable......got jeans?"

While We Wait

We got a tracking update this morning that says Pumpkin (Fairyland LittleFee Leah) is out for delivery.

As soon as she heard, Peanut ran around gathering all of Pumpkin's coming home stuff together. She says it's very important that we make her buddy feel welcome, and nothing says welcome home quite like having your eyes and wig right there waiting for you as soon as your box opens. Well....clothes too, but according to Peanut they're not as important as eyes and hair.

So now she's standing there, all nervous, waiting and listening for the delivery truck.

Every few minutes she thinks she hears something and she runs to the window.

And when it turns out to be the garbage truck or a neighbour's car she sadly goes back to waiting.

"Oh....Is that her?"

And back to the window she runs!

Only to be disappointed yet again.

Do you think maybe I told her too soon?
